Brain Tumours Galore

Mam's brain tumour has come back, after 2 operations to remove them a third one began to grow, she started whole brain radiotherapy 2 days ago at Preston Rosemere Centre and she is feeling a little bit better, although her seizures are coming more frequent, she feels she is walking better too, so perhaps it is killing it, fingers crossed.  Who could have known almost 2 years ago this fit healthy woman would just collapse and the hospital find metastatic brain tumour, for two years it was of an unknown origin, but now the cancer has began to show on her lung.  The oncologist is not worried about the mass on her lung at the moment, he wants to sort out her brain first.   Since this has happened to us, I never realised how many people have brain tumours and have found out 3 of my neighbours also have them,,, unbelievable.

Bedroom Spring Makover

I looked around my bedroom with three grey walls and my black and lime wall behind the bed, I was so happy to eventually have it decorated after 14 years I plumped for an expensive sumptuous carpet to add extra comfort, I bought the finest egyptian cotton sheets I could find and a very chic duvet cover with matching throw.  My bedroom would have looked good in any home magazine, I was so proud.  The neighbours came round to view my end product and all said they were envious.  How I had longed for a room like this.  I was called away for a few days due to a family problem, when I returned late in the evening all I longed for was a lovely hot bath and to sleep in my bed, I walked in the bedroom and the sight before me I could not believe, the wind and rains had been heavy and must have blown some of my tiles off, the rain had came through the ceiling and made the insulation sodden, it broke through the ceiling onto my bed, the whole room was filthy, my gorgeous white sheets now were black and brown, the wallpaper had filthy water running down it, my bed was ruined the dirty water had seeped all the way through.  I checked my insurance documents and realised I had forgotten to renew, so I had to have the roof repaired ASAP and that left me broke, so I have been banished to the spare room until I can afford to start all over again.  My bed had to go, and as much as I washed the bedding some stains will not come out.  I have stripped the walls and I have a plasterer booked, I have decided to have the whole room plastered while he fixes the ceiling, I am hoping we can keep the carpet if the plasterer can cover it well.  A new bed is a must and as I have rheumatoid arthritis it has to be a good quality one, as sleeping is never easy as I am always in pain.  I will choose bedding which is easier to iron this time as much as Egyptian cotton is lovely, ironing it is a nightmare my bedroom can do without, I've promised myself embossed silver dessing table and stool with matching bedside tables, and a bedside docking station for my phone with capiz shell lampshades that will jingle in the breeze.  It's going to take a while, hopefully not another 14 years  I hope you enjoy reading it, and please remember to check you have renewed your insurance, as you never know when this can happen. ‘This blog post is part of the Silentnight Spring Bedroom Makeover Challenge

My brothers website

I recently designed a website 12 years after losing my only brother to murder.  I had rang around web designers but they were asking for silly amounts to make me one.  I saw an advert on tv and decided to give it a go.  I have no knowledge of how websites work and cannot tell a HMTL from a TCP/IP it is all double dutch to me.  After I made up a name for my site, which I now know can be 72 characters long, I was up and running, I began by adding photos and writing the odd paragraph, it took me a few days to write all that I wanted to say, I added widgets for facebook and twitter.  I was really pleased to see what I wanted the world to know was suddenly in front of me on the screen.  Mine is a website where I need a message about injustice to get out, and I certainly did, I emailed the link to every member of the house of Lords and had lots of interest in my plight, I was even given advice on how to go forth with my campaign.  And as the law was recently changed and Double Jeopardy is now available for serious crimes, I am in talks with the police and the CPS to try to have my brother exonerated of provoking his own death. Who would have thought my little page form insignificant me could get people in power discussing my brothers murder and looking into changing laws for other victims in similar positions.   I went from double Dutch to Double Jeopardy in one week and hopefully my epetition will be signed and changes for the better shall be made. http://www.letvictimsofmurderedlovedonesappealmanslaughterconvictions.co.uk/

An Upstairs Bathroom is a must.

In these days I think an upstairs family bathroom should be like the Internet,  - in every house.   Unfortunately not in mine.  I may be up to date with my wifi but my daily ablutions have to be done downstairs, not easy with arthritic knees.
So this year I intend to make my smallest bedroom into a bathroom for all the family to use.
Although nowadays a shower is a must, you cannot beat a long soak. My ideal bathroom would have to have clean lines and strong shapes, and must be made strong and durable, classic yet simple stylish and functional and the Bathshop321 Sorea M100 Shower Bath Suite fits the bill perfectly.  http://www.bathshop321.com/complete-bathroom-suites/modern-bathrooms/l-shape-shower-bath-full-suite/

My ideal bathroom would have a jacuzzi bath with colour changing lights a push button toilet a heated towel rail and stainless steel taps with easy grip levers for my arthritic hands to get a hold of.  The decor would be a half tiled bathroom in travertine wall tiles with half plastered walls, so colour scheme could be changed throughout the years, the floor covering would be a  good quality cushion floor with shaggy bath and pedestal mats and of course fluffy matching towels, Christy towels are my favourite and come in an array of beautiful colours to match any colour scheme.  A modern illuminated mirror is a must if your bathroom like mine does not have a lot of natural light, for when my daughter wants to touch up her make up or my son wants a shave, and last but not least a lock on the door, so that when I want to have a soak in peace the kids cannot get in to bug me.... oooh Heaven.  But how boring am I?  If wishes were fishes I'd have a big sunken bath with a jacuzzi jet, I would have a sparkly chandelier hanging from the ceiling with a stiletto shoe chair in pink and black leather to relax in while I paint my toenails, I would have a total body dryer save on me having to towel myself dry, I would have a waterproof tv with built in DAB system with surround sound so I never missed an episode of Corrie or listened to my local radio station blasting out the hits.  I'd have a double sink for me and him one each so no more moaning he can't get near, with plug points all around for tongs and dryers and straighteners electric toothbrushes and shavers, there'd be built in cupboards to hide the loo rolls and talking about loo's I'd have a clos-o-mat to wash and dry paper not needed, (I hear the Queen has one) so that would be my throne, with a newspaper rack at the side for all my weekly mags, I could read real life true stories while escaping to the loo.   Unfortunately this old terrace house does not have the room, so unless I come up with the lotto, boring me has to stay.
